Brief history and geological characteristics:

Named for its moon-like sheen, Moonstone is a Feldspar mineral exhibiting a soft, watery opaqueness and a silvery-white reflection called “chatoyancy” that moves as a line across the surface of the stone as light varies. Moonstone occurs in delicate shades of peach, blue, gray, white and a prismatic variety known as a “Rainbow Moonstone”. Since earliest times, Moonstone has been a tangible connection to the magic of the moon – an amulet of protection for travellers, a gift of lovers for passion, a channel for prophecy, and a path to wisdom.

Spiritual and healing energy:

Moonstone is charged with positive feminine receiving energy. It helps to balance between men and women energies, to calm us down and to deal with exaggerated emotions. It is a stone, as it is clear from its name, strongly connected to the moon and the intuition. Our ties to the moon are strong. As it waxes and wanes in cyclic perfection, it creates the tides and rhythms of Mother Earth and influences our behaviours, emotions and spiritual growth. Moonstone calms and encourages, teaching us the natural rhythms of life. On the physical level, Moonstone helps women to regulate the reproductive system and to harmonise the level of hormones responsible for menstrual period.
